TDG seeks a self-starting, organized, motivated, and outgoing individual to serve as the New Ventures Finance & Operations Analyst. The incumbent provides independent and sophisticated support and analysis for the UCLA Innovation Fund in the areas of finance, operations, and event management.

There are four (4) primary areas of responsibility of the NV Finance & Operations Analyst: (1) Generating financial statements from a raw set of complex data with accuracy; (2) Managing day-to-day operational activities for the New Ventures team and the Innovation Fund; (3) Faculty/Investor/Industry outreach, relationship development and event management; (4) Generate contracts, including CDA's and MOU's.

Incumbent will work closely and collaboratively with the New Ventures team to assist in identifying, developing, and maintaining new and existing business relationships and funding opportunities. This position will serve as a TDG ambassador, responsible for tracking and arranging requested meetings, outreach efforts, and funding opportunities to enable TDG to meet strategic and financial goals.

Under general supervision by the Director, the incumbent exercises complete discretion and confidentiality, a high level of problem solving ability, and independence in accomplishing duties. Required Excellent written and verbal English communication skills to communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisor, faculty, and external personnel in a highly sensitive environment. Skill in managing calendars and schedules. Required Proven ability to compose concise, logical and grammatically correct oral and written communications. Required Ability to gather information necessary for resolving questions and solving problems. Required Ability to generate budgets and projections. Ability to analyze transactions within a financial environment based on fund accounting principles, in order to monitor expenses and resolve problems on a timely basis. Required Working knowledge of generally accepted Accounting Principles and the University's accounting procedures and standard business practices, including accounting structure, accounts payable, university travel, purchasing, and fund sources to promote fiscal responsibility. Preferred Demonstrated working knowledge of, and ability to use, University computerized systems: Purchasing System (Bruin Buy), Travel Reimbursement (Travel Express), Open Provision Log (SLS), Transfer of Funds (TOF), Audit of Personnel Transactions (PAN). Can be trained Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including knowledge of formatting and reviewing features to generate reports and other materials to represent data in logical, concise and effective formats. Required Skill in developing and electronic and paper systems for communication, tracking and reporting in an environment that demands a high degree of confidentiality and timelines. Required Skill to accurately proofread and format correspondence, reports and other materials. Ability to check accuracy of facts and substance of written material, including technical documents. Required Excellent and demonstrated attention to detail, producing reports with a high degree of accuracy. Required Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented environment to follow through on assignments with minimal direction and to independently prioritize work. Required Skill in working with frequent interruptions and competing priorities. Ability to work effectively under pressure of deadlines and maintain a high level of productivity. Required Strong organizational, administrative, and problem solving skills. Detail oriented. Required Interpersonal skills to develop effective, cooperative working relationships with administrators, faculty and staff. Required Working knowledge of Patent Tracking System (PTS).
