Job Description:


The Coordinator for the Health and Wellness Initiative will be a key staff member in the Office of Student Life in the Division of Student Affairs. The selected individual reports directly to the Dean of Student Affairs. The Coordinator works in close collaboration with two other coordinators (Student Life & Career Services), a specialist, and secretary within the Office of Student Life. This dynamic and highly effective team of student affairs professionals support each other's initiatives, cross training and sharing resources. The selected individual will be involved in working closely with students and supporting them throughout their academic career through co-curricular projects.



The individual will coordinate numerous local and regional events and will be the primary point person on an annual three-day wellness retreat with workshops, a health fair and major speaker presentations. Marketing, relationship building, resource allocation and project planning as well as other wellness events throughout the year are the focus of this position.



The coordinator will oversee the student wellness website, the student wellness monthly magazine and multiple contracts for appropriate vendors and speakers. Marketing these resources to students, staff and faculty as well as monitoring usage data and evaluating impact of resources are also part of this position.



The selected individual will be charged with evaluating existing initiatives, tracking engagement data, and developing new initiatives in coordination with other offices across the college with a particular focus on healthy living, stress management, and school/work/life balance. In addition, creating and accessing resources for students across the state is part of the initiate and the coordinator's responsibility. This will involve building community relationships in regional locations.



As a member of the Student Life team the individual participates in the Student Leadership Institute and will be a key staff member in this program as well as clubs and organizations and other Office of Student Life events as appropriate.




Requirements:


Requirements:


  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Substantial experience in event planning
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Must be able to travel routinely
  • Ability to problem solve and make decisions
  • A demonstrated ability in organizational and planning skills with multiple projects is necessary


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Master's Degree in student affairs
  • At least three years' experience in student activities in a higher education arena
  • Experience working with committees of stakeholders
  • Supervisory skills
  • Experience in health and wellness programming
  • Experience working with a non-traditional adult environment
  • Experience using student software (i.e. Banner, an LMS, Advise)



Special Information:


  • This position requires monthly travel
  • Occasional weekend hours are expected
  • VISA sponsorship is not available for this position

Rank/Salary: $45,000+
