Job Description:


Bunker Hill Community College is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Director of Internships and Career Development who will report to the Assistant Dean of Academic Affairs in the Division of Professional Studies. The Director will have a proven track record of cooperating with colleagues and working with students to develop career skills and build relationships. This individual will display a high degree of professional judgment, communication, training and project management skills. The Director will play a strong management role within the College as well as cultivate relationships with corporate, civic, non-profit, and other partner organizations.


SPECIFIC DUTIES:


  • Oversee and support the Internships and Career Advancement Area
  • Establish department goals, objectives and strategies; develop and implement programs and services to accomplish goals and improve operations
  • Provide leadership to the expansion of career development programming across all majors, including the expansion of Learn and Earn to new business sectors
  • Drive the cultivation of relationships with internship host sites
  • Provide support for hiring, training, performance management, coaching and evaluation for staff; including establishing policies, procedures, on-going training
  • Advance equity and access for all students related to career development opportunities and access to high-quality internship opportunities
  • Demonstrate and promote a high level of strength-based student service. Create and support an environment that enhances positive value-added relationships and learning. Develop and maintain a culture that supports student success and the mission of the Career Advancement and Internships Area
  • Execute targeted and college-wide career development events
  • Serve as main contact for internal and external initiatives focusing on internships and career development
  • Collaborate with departments across the College, including the International Office, Life Map and Advising, BHCC Foundation, and Academic Departments
  • Collaborate with faculty to understand needs of academic programs and career development
  • Ensure the security and confidentiality of all student record information and submitted documentation to comply with Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
  • Responsible for data collection and reporting of data pertinent to the overall performance of the Internships and Career Development Area.
  • Serve on various department, division and college committees
  • Perform related duties as assigned


Requirements:


  • Master's degree with the equivalent of five years of experience in career services, human resources, academic advising, or related field
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively market and represent a program to employers across broad industries
  • Collaborative, self-directed, outcome-oriented, and strong customer service presence
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, creative thinking, and communication skills
  • Evidence of relationship-building or project management skills
  • Attention to detail; ability to learn and utilize new internet-based recruiting and computer technologies
  • Ability to relate and understand the needs of a diverse student population and work effectively with a broad range of internal and external constituent
  • Ability to effectively market and represent a program to employers across broad industries
  • Proven ability to work effectively with a diverse student, faculty and staff population
  • Experience with staff development and training
  • Proven ability to resolve conflicts and work effectively in a team environment as well as ability to work independently to achieve departmental goals

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Human Resources experience
  • Supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of Ellucian Colleague or other Student Information System,
  • Experience working in a community college setting,


Additional Information:


Salary: $80,000.00-85,000.00

Bunker Hill Community College (BHCC) is a multi-campus urban institution, its main campus situated in the historic Charlestown neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts. A second campus is located in nearby Chelsea, Massachusetts; five satellites are located in the local communities of Cambridge, Chinatown, Revere, Somerville and Boston’s South End.
