The Emergency Medical and Fire Services Specialist is responsible for providing emergency medical services (EMS) and fire training and technical assistance for district stakeholders.  The position will also coordinate American Heart Association (AHA) training and technical assistance for the College community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The following duties are normal for this position and relate to all assigned areas of responsibility. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. This position requires flexible scheduling including morning, evening, and weekend assignments.

  • Build and maintain effective, long-term relationships with business and industry; educational institutions; local, state, federal, and tribal governmental units; non-profit and community-based organizations; and others served by the College.
  • Serve on various internal and external committees, community organizations, boards, professional and trade associations, etc., as assigned.
  • Conduct frequent environmental scanning activities, monitor regulatory changes, and identify new market, product, and career pathway opportunities.
  • Coordinate sales and marketing efforts related to customized training, technical assistance, and open-enrollment offerings.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert within assigned areas of responsibility and expertise.
  • Make data-informed decisions within assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Assist in the recruitment and development of adjunct faculty, adjunct technicians, and part-time staff.
  • Conduct formal and informal training needs assessments using a variety of data-gathering techniques including surveys, questionnaires, interviews, observations, focus groups, etc.
  • Coordinate the development, delivery, and assessment of customized training and technical assistance services under Wisconsin Statute 38.14(3) contracts for services.
  • Coordinate the development and revision of curriculum incorporating a variety of delivery methods (i.e., face-to-face, online, teleconference, and hybrid).
  • Coordinate the development and/or review of instructional support materials to ensure that they are of high quality and appropriate to the audience and delivery method.
  • Coordinate customized training, technical assistance, credit, and continuing education classes within areas of certification and/or expertise, utilizing a variety of learning-centered approaches, including alternative delivery methods, to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Assess learning outcomes and customer/employer satisfaction, and incorporate continuous quality improvement practices into the teaching and learning process.
  • Assist in developing policies, procedures, and work processes.
  • Seek alternative funding sources for programs, services, and equipment; assist with grant applications, administration of grant activities, and reporting.
  • Oversee and maintain equipment and supply inventories.
  • Assist in operational and capital budget preparation process; monitor expenditures and provide budget variance reports.
  • Adhere to all College and external regulatory requirements related to recordkeeping and reporting.
