POSTION: MANAGER, STUDENT ADVISING CENTER
STATUS: Full time
DEPARTMENT:Student Advising Center

REPORTS TO: Dean, Student Success
PLACEMENT: Professional, grade S11
MINIMUM PAY RATE $65,908 annually

POSITION SUMMARY
Provides leadership, supervision, and direction to the Student Advising Center and staff. Works collaboratively with the faculty, staff, students and JJC district residents to address the immediate and long-term academic support of JJC students. Provides visionary leadership for First Year Experience programs and academic pathway training, strategic reporting, technologies, academic intervention strategies and campaigns to support student success. Provides leadership and support to the Dean of Student Success and the Student Development Leadership Team (SDLT). This includes marketing and delivering on the program priorities, effectively assessing services and accommodations, as well as strategically reporting data that indicate student engagement, development, and success outcomes to support the effective continuous enrollment, active persistence, and overall retention of students.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONISBILIES
1.Provide leadership for the Student Advising Center; and, facilitate short and long-range planning, program development and assessment that supports guided academic pathway coaching and student success outcomes; and, align program initiatives with strategic goals and outcomes of the college.
2.Promote student success by implementing strategies, which maximize student retention and completion including, but not limited to, intentional pathway coaching strategies, embedded advising, on-going guided academic pathway training, development and implementation; provide collaborative execution of early alert campaigns to increase first-year student retention.
3.Strategically develop, promote and monitor academic intervention success strategies via a case-management model of academic pathway coaching; and, monitor the caseloads of coaches to ensure students are transitioned to faculty advisors upon declaration of academic intent/major/concentration area.
4.Strategically develop communication campaigns to engage and retain students; in collaboration with the Dean of Student Success provide outreach and referral to success resources and programs for students falling into academic caution, probation or dismissal.
5.Manage the operational, budget and personnel functions for the Student Advising Center; utilizing data in annual reports develop budget requests to reflect the needs of students.
6.Provide leadership to ensure the utilization of a variety of effective and best-practice pathway coaching delivery systems and methodologies including virtual pathway coaching; responsible for developing pathways to support distance learners.
7.Provide leadership and collaboration with extended campuses to ensure services are available; and, develop a strategy to refer students to support services at the extended campuses.
8.Coordinate training workshops specific to institutional programs, degrees, and certificates in collaboration with academic disciplines and the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning.
9.Coordinate and host strategic retention initiative workshops/forums to highlight the Student Advising Center efforts, national best practices and trends in higher education to support retention and completion of community college students.
10.Provide one-on-one, group, and virtual academic coaching, during peak registration periods.
11.Provide leadership for evaluations and accountability standards for all staff.
12.Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1.Bachelor’s Degree in Higher Education, Education, Human Relations, Psychology, or a related field.
2.Experience in higher education and educational coaching and/or academic advising.
3.Strong technical data analysis and reporting skills. Familiarity with college Student Information and Reporting systems such as Ellucian (formerly Datatel), Banner, or similar.
4.Three (3) years of progressive responsibility in higher education.
5.Successful supervisory and management experience.
6.Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office.
7.Demonstrated presentation and written communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1.Master’s degree.
2.Community College experience.
3.Colleague, degree audit and retention planning database experience.
4.Familiarity with social media platforms.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
1.Normal office physical demands.
2.Ability to travel and work between campus locations and to and from community events.
3.Ability to travel in state and nationally.

WORKING CONDITIONS
1.Duties are performed indoors in the usual office and/or outdoor environment.

They also contain information about crime statistics for the three previous years for all JJC campuses, property owned and controlled by JJC District 525 and on public property immediately adjacent to JJC campuses.
