Position Summary

Evaluate financial aid applications and determine amount/configuration of aid packages for students ensuring the University is in compliance with state, federal, and institutional policies governing financial aid. Reassess packages based on student appeals/revised data to determine if any impact on students eligibility. Consult with various University offices (Admissions, Registrar, Bursar) and external agencies (lenders and guarantee agencies) to resolve related processing and certification and payment issues. Advise applicants, students, and parents on financial aid application process, University policies and procedures, and assist them with resolving problems including serving as their liaison to other University offices; provide complex and detailed financial aid information in terms parents and students can more easily understand. As a member of assigned team, provide guidance and leadership with regard to Policy, Communications, Client Service, or Quality Assurance and Training teams/initiatives; provide day-to-day leadership and guidance to Financial Aid Counselors and assist Director of Financial Aid and Client Service Managers with management of operations, as requested.

Qualifications

Required Education:Bachelor's degreeRequired Experience:3 to 5 years of relevant professional level experience in a financial aid and student services environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Preferred Experience:Experience supervising and training staff.Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication and client service skills. Facility with figures and familiarity with automated student financial aid systems. Knowledge of needs' analysis and federal/state financial aid programs. Ability to interpret and apply complex laws, policies and procedures. Familiarity with word processing, spreadsheet and database software applications. Use of Federal Student Aid (FSA) systems.Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Familiary with IA Plus Student Information System.
