AVP, Inclusive Student Engagement

Position Description: Reporting to the Dean of Students/Chief Student Affairs Officer, serves as member of the Division senior leadership team, and assumes full division responsibility in the Dean’s absence. Provides leadership for and supervises assigned professionals, graduate assistants and student employees in Student Involvement and Activities, General Fee Advisory Committee, LGBTQ+ Student Services and Center, the Mareyjoyce Green Women’s Center, and Veteran Student Support Center. Advises the Dean of Students on issues related to sustaining a diverse and inclusive climate and culture for students that is respectful and advances understanding and equality. Executes and presents university–wide initiatives, developing and leading co-curricular programs and services that link issues of race, ethnicity, culture, diversity, multiculturalism, inclusion, intersectionality, and social justice to holistic student development. Leads activities related to Divisional assessment and professional development, and represents the Division on University committees. Participates in strategic planning and division budget administration. Oversees the Administrator on Call, Student Trustee selection and Board of Elections process. Interacts professionally with all internal and external customers using strong interpersonal skills.

Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree and seven years progressively responsible experience in higher education, student affairs and student programming working with and representing diverse communities. Demonstrated commitment to diversity in all its forms, including a track record of individual action and student programming. Demonstrated leadership style that fosters confidence in staff, promotes teamwork, enhances creativity and motivation, and builds consensus in a high-energy and high-task environment. Strong written communication and interpersonal skills, including group presentation/facilitation skills. Proven ability to successfully manage multiple complex projects simultaneously. PC proficiency. Proven management and supervisory skills.

Preferred Qualifications: Successful record in grant proposal development or working with donors and securing funds.
