Founded in 1850, Illinois Wesleyan University (IWU) is an independent, residential, Liberal Arts University with roughly 1,700 undergraduate students. The University’s Division of Student Affairs invites applications for the Coordinator of Student Involvement. The Coordinator is a non-exempt, 10-month position in the Office of Student Involvement which is responsible for providing a broad range of campus involvement opportunities to the IWU community including fraternity and sorority life, intramural sports, leadership programming, student activities, and oversight of registered student organizations. The office’s primary goal is to a) help students build a sense of belonging, b) contribute to the liveliness of the campus community, and c) augment the classroom experience in meaningful ways. With the goal of supporting the holistic growth and development of students, the Coordinator will serve as a front line professional in helping IWU students reach their full leadership potential through their involvement in co-curricular activities on campus. Specific responsibilities of the Coordinator for Student Involvement will include:

  • Advisement of IWU’s Campus Activities Board including oversight over the coordination of the annual “Big Show” on campus.
  • Advisement of IWU’s Fraternity and Sorority Programming Board.
  • Coordination of all student centered programming during homecoming week.
  • Supervision of the Hansen Student Center event set up student worker staff.
  • Maintenance of external electronic communication and visionary oversight of all social media channels and departmental marketing strategies.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required/masters preferred
  • One year of related professional experience
  • Demonstrated experience responding appropriately to student concerns and managing student issues
  • Proven experience exercising good judgment and the ability to remain unbiased and impartial in dealing with fraternity and sorority issues

  • Strong supervisory and mentoring skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
