DESCRIPTION

Under Supervision by the Principal Investigator (PI) and HNRP supervisory personnel, incumbent will assist with coordinating the day-to-day operation of a longitudinal, randomized clinical trial examining the effects of daily exercise and diet on cognition, cardiovascular health and everyday functioning in a population of participants living with HIV. Duties will include assisting with the determination of participant eligibility, tracking project recruitment goals and data collection.

Incumbent will administer standardized tests of neuropsychological function including (but not limited to) intelligence, executive function, learning, recall, abstraction, perception, motor skills and coordination, attention and speeded information processing. Assist with instructing and orienting participants on the details and proper utilization of smart phone enabled daily text messages, FitBit devices and their associated app, and how to adequately adhere to and track a traditional Mediterranean diet.

Other responsibilities will include assuring the accuracy of interview and collected test data, including identifying erroneous data and resolving any discrepancies in the data with assistance from investigators and HNRP supervisory personnel as needed. Assist the PI in preparing and managing Institutional Review Board (IRB) materials. Meet weekly with study PI and HNRP supervisory personnel to review study recruitment and update personnel on progress made regarding all scientific and operational aims of the study protocol.

Serve as liaison between the various multi-disciplinary investigators and administrative research staff and assist the study PI with database management, data analyses and manuscript preparation. The incumbent will also assist PI with new proposals, progress reports to federal and state regulatory bodies and renewals.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Theoretical knowledge of neuropsychology, neurosciences, infectious diseases (i.e., HIV), addiction, or related fields.

  • Must be bilingual, with proven ability to administer tests and communicate with participants in both English and Spanish.

  • Experience in administering neurobehavioral assessments (especially measures of intelligence, executive functions, learning, recall, abstraction, perception, motor skills and coordination, attention, and speed of information processing), psychological tests, and psychiatric interviews.

  • Strong proficiency with word processing, graphics, statistical (especially JMP), and database programs.

  • Demonstrated ability to implement data collection forms and questionnaires pertinent to a research study.

  • Demonstrated ability to conduct comprehensive literature reviews utilizing multiple sources of media.

  • Excellent writing and editorial skills.

  • Strong knowledge of statistical concepts and ability to perform basic statistical analyses. Ability to conduct data analyses, data collection, data tracking, interpretation and presentation.

  • Experience working with people infected with the HIV virus and substance dependent populations.

  • Proven ability to assist with instructing and orienting participants on the details and proper utilization of smart phone enabled daily text messages, FitBit devices and their associated app, and how to adequately adhere to and track a traditional Mediterranean diet.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to foster a good working relationship with wide variety of people (participants living with HIV and with psychiatric conditions, including active substance use disorders) using tact, diplomacy, confidentiality and flexibility.
