To provide project design and coordination in the planning, directing, and construction of a variety of reconfiguration and remodeling projects principally related to furnishings and minor remodeling.Description of Duties and TasksEssential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Plans, designs, and implements reconfiguration and minor remodeling projects; researches and evaluates options for furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E) for use throughout the district's facilities.Oversees the selection, acquisition, and installation of FF&E in major construction projects.Coordinates FF&E needs of department with department heads and/or other department personnel, outside contracting firms, consultants, and design professionals; coordinates staff moves.Defines project scope, establishes schedules, negotiates contracts following Austin Community College (ACC) guidelines, prepares project budget, monitors purchases, and reviews distribution of funds on single projects as well as multiple concurrent projects.Develops recommendations, maintains, and assists in enforcement of design and system FF&E standards for the district's facilities.Assists with drafting tasks in the department.Oversees the installation of goods and services.Files and tracks warranty claims, repairs, and modifications of existing and surplus furniture.Assists in the development of operating budgets for the department and capital budgets for capital improvement programs.Serves or chairs various committees in the college.KnowledgeMust possess required knowledge and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
Architecture, interior design, and construction management. Project planning and management principles. Regulations regarding accessibility and hazardous materials found in buildings. Budget preparation, bid and purchasing procedures, FF&E writing of specifications, and expense control. Current government regulations related to safety requirements in this area, building and fire codes, accessibility standards related to this area, and any other relevant government rules, regulations, and specifications.SkillsMust possess required skills and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.

Use a variety of spreadsheet, word processing, database, and presentation software. Applicable project software such as Auto CAD.Required Work Experience
Two years related work experience.Preferred Work Experience
Six to eight years of Interior or Architectural design with at least four years focused on contract furnishings.Required Education
Bachelor's degree.Preferred Education
Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Architecture, Construction Management, or related design field from an accredited school.Special RequirementsLicenses/Certifications; Other
Licensed as Interior Designer or Architect in the State of Texas (Preferred). Valid Texas drivers license and reliable transportation for local travel.Other Preferred Qualifications
Comprehensive knowledge of design process, systems furniture, educational furniture, and construction documentation.Physical Requirements
Work is performed in a standard office or similar environment. Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling. Occasional lifting of objects up to 10 pounds.Safety
