Chief Administrative Officer, American Comparative Literature Association
The American Comparative Literature Association is hiring for the new position of Chief Administrative Officer. CAO will provide administrative leadership to the ACLA, and manage its daily business. The CAO will implement the goals and priorities established by the ACLA Board (of which they will be a non-voting member). Major responsibilities include planning the annual conference (over 2000 attendees), website development and maintenance, supervision of staff, and supporting the other activities of the ACLA. The CAO will have either a graduate degree (MA or higher), along with at least 2 years’ experience in nonprofit management, or will have a PhD in Comparative Literature or a related field, plus demonstrable skills commensurate with the position description. Initial hiring through the ACLA’s current host institution, the University of South Carolina, but the successful candidate will work with the ACLA board on establishing the organization as an independently-operating non-profit.
