DescriptionThe LeadAdministrative Assistant will be responsible for coordinating day-to-dayoperations of the Hematology/Oncology administrative offices within theDepartment of Medicine. In addition, the incumbent will assist practice staffwith appointment scheduling for out-patient visits and will serve as a liaisonto providers, patients (and their families) and other clinical departmentsthroughout TUP and TUHS.  Administrative support, as necessary, will beprovided to the fellowship program. 


The Lead Administrative Assistant will complete administrative tasks, such as,screening incoming calls and correspondence while responding independently whenpossible on behalf of the department's faculty; composing and preparingconfidential correspondence, memos, and specialized reports; arranging travelplans, and compiling documents for travel-related meetings; communicatinginformation, on behalf of the faculty, to patients and providers; schedulingout-patient appointments for the faculty and other providers, organizing andupdating patient records, and obtaining patient insurance information. Performsother duties as assigned. 

Required Education and Experience: 
At least three years of related administrative support experience within amedical setting. An equivalent combination of education and experience may beconsidered. 

Required Skills and Abilities: 
*Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology. 
*Excellent customer service, interpersonal and collaborative skills, along withthe ability to interact with a diverse constituent population. 
*Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
*Strong organizational skills, with the ability to work in a fast pacedenvironment. 
*Demonstrated ability to multi-task with strong attention to detail. 
*Must be proficient with GE/IDX, Epic and Microsoft Office applications. 

*Must be proficient using TUMarketplace, Concur and other TU web based systems as necessary.  

Preferred: 
*Experience working with out-patient appointment scheduling. 
*Experience with insurance pre-certification.
