The Department of Recreation and Leisure Studies (RLS) at Ithaca college is developing an applicant pool for part-time lecturers for anticipated openings during the summer, fall and spring of the 2019-2020 academic year. Lecturers are needed to teach in various courses in RLS including Leadership, Interventions and Protocols in Therapeutic Recreation, Outdoor Adventure Skills, Foundations of Outdoor Adventure Pursuits, Leisure & Aging, Seminar: Professional Development, Leisure and Society, Service Learning I & II, Therapeutic Recreation Process, Rock Climbing, History and Philosophy of Leisure,, Understanding Disabilities, Administration of Recreation, Commercial Recreation, Leisure Travel, and other Recreation related courses based on need.

Position/Job Qualifications

Applicants are required to hold a master’s degree; doctoral degree and college teaching experience preferred. A bachelor’s degree and professional experience will be considered for some disciplines.

The Department of Recreation and Leisure is one of eight discreet departments in the School of Health Sciences and Human Performance (HSHP) at Ithaca College. Established in 1972, the department has been in existence for 45 years serving the undergraduate population. The department has its own faculty and budget, and is administered by a chairperson who is a faculty member in the department.The Department of Recreation and Leisure Studies offers two majors: outdoor adventure leadership and therapeutic recreation.
