General Summary Position: Assistant Director of Bands. A nine-month, non-tenure track position.

Duties: Teach undergraduate conducting, conduct a concert wind band, lead and direct Pep Bands, assist with the Big Red Marching Machine, the university's marching band. Other duties may be assigned by the School of Music.

This position is represented by the Illinois State University Education Association and may have associated dues or fees.
Additional Information: Illinois State University is located in Normal/Bloomington, Illinois, twin cities with a combined population of 125,000. The University enrolls approximately 21,000 students. The School of Music, one of three schools within the College of Fine Arts, has an enrollment of 385 music majors: 315 undergraduate and 70 graduate students. The School of Music has 50 full-time faculty and 50 graduate assistants.
Required Qualifications 1. Master's degree in wind conducting or closely related field.
2. State law mandates demonstrable oral proficiency in the English language as a requirement for this position.
3. If this position is Security Sensitive or if you are subject to a criminal background investigation based on University policy, employment is contingent upon you passing a satisfactory criminal background investigation. You may not begin work until the criminal background investigation results have been received and cleared by Human Resources.
Desired Qualifications: 1. Successful teaching experience at the collegiate level is highly desirable.
Necessary Licenses/Certifications/Degrees 1. Master's degree in wind conducting or closely related field.
Hiring Rate/Range Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
