During the spring and fall semesters, this position works Saturday and Sunday 8:30 am-5pm, and 9:30-6pm Monday-Wednesday. During the summer and breaks, this position starts 30 minutes before library opening on the weekends, whatever those hours may be.

Advertised Job Summary

Reporting to the Head of Circulation, the Library Specialist manages a shift of the circulation department. This position is responsible for scheduling and training workers, organizing workflow, maintaining accurate automated records, processing requests from users, maintaining a harmonious working relationship with all users, providing assistance to users, and maintaining collection.

Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)

Bachelor’s degree and 1 year library experience, or high school diploma and 5 years related experience. Valid Driver’s License. This position requires some nights, holidays, and weekends. A credit check and a background check is performed for this job.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with the supervision of workers. Experience in customer service.


Knowledge of word processing and data management software. Knowledge of automated systems.
