The University of Colorado Denver (UCD),Department of English invites applications for Instructor positions at theInternational College Beijing (ICB) for the academic year 2019-2020. Allinstruction is in English. The school is located on the China AgriculturalUniversity campus in northern Beijing. ICB is a collaborative educational programbetween UCD and China Agricultural University (CAU) offering undergraduatedegrees in Economics and in Communication. Interested candidates must have atleast a MA in an appropriate field and a proven record of teaching excellence.Preference will be given to those with experience teaching at four year colleges/universitiesand abroad. Course assignments are primarily in composition but include thosein introductory literature and film narrative. Teaching assignments are 4/4with one of the four courses each term assigned in the Writing Center at ICB(10 hrs/week).

This position may be renewable.

In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification document form upon hire. The University does not have direct authority to hire Chinese citizens working in China. Faculty hired to teach at ICB must be able to meet the requirements to obtain the Z Visa to work in China (http://english.gov.cn/services/workinchina/); our understanding of these requirements include holding a Bachelor's degree or above and either 2 years of language teaching experience, a TEFL or TESOL certificate, or an education/teaching related degree. Under these Chinese rules, the maximum age of candidates seeking a work Visa is 59. These requirements are subject to change by the Chinese government without notice.


Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Master's Degree in English or a related field
  • At least one of the following:
    • 2 years of language teaching experience
    • a TEFL or TESOL certificate
    • an education/teaching-related degree

Interested candidates should also have a proven record of teaching excellence.


Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to those with experience teaching at four year

colleges/universities and abroad.
