To apply advanced quantitative research methods to better understand energy market conditions, use actual market data and to offer practical policy solutions; to produce results that are intended not only for publication purposes, but also to be shared with other stakeholders and in educating the next generation of clean and sustainability assessment; to work with collaborators and communicate with partner organizations, faculty, staff, and students. The position will require high-quality, relevant research on public policy topics. Assignments involve problem formulation, research design, benefit-cost modeling, literature reviews and meta-analysis, data and fiscal analysis, report writing, and presentations and apply statistical and econometric tools that include but are not limited to neural network analyses, parametric survival model, probabilistic characterization, binomial and ordinal logistic regression, among others. This professional position, requires advanced research, analytical, and communication skills.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conduct research effort focused on primary and secondary data analyses, develop financial and economic models to assess policy designs and sustainability tradeoffs, assess local and state wide energy market conditions and impacts of proposed and implemented policy initiatives, assess long-term market growth of renewable energy sources, ecosystem services assessments, and socioeconomic assessments of likelihood and magnitude of environmental effects based on natural resource vulnerabilities.
• Lead or co-lead complex, long-term and highly visible research projects, to include developing detailed project plans and timelines, managing project resources, and holding self and team members accountable for assigned work and deliverables.
• Contribute to the ongoing development of CESAC's research methods and internal processes and procedures and develop strong working relationships with relevant stakeholders.
• Synthesize case studies and literature to outline different sets of clean energy pathways the state and other relevant stakeholders relevant to the CESAC.
• Apply sound economic principles and the use of effective econometric and quantitative methods to determine policy preferences, effectiveness, when conducting outcome evaluations for sets of scenarios that inform the analyses and decisions made by the CESAC's collaborators and inform environmental planning.
• Develop and recommend appropriate budget for activities supervised.
• Manage programs and support staff, including supervising the work of graduate and undergraduate students
• Analyze and interpret applicable principles, identify problem areas and take steps necessary to effect improvement, prepare clear, technically sound, accurate and informative reports containing findings, conclusions and recommendations; attend and participate in meetings or college functions related to assigned responsibilities.
• Coordinate implementation of strategic initiatives of CESAC.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of the CESAC. The work portfolio may vary depending on new projects and assignments.

Qualifications & Requirements

REQUIRED:
• Qualified candidates must hold a Ph.D. in environmental management, environmental economics, energy economics or related field.
• Applicants should have strong analytical, quantitative, and writing skills as well as advisory services for clients and collaborators.
• A strong work ethic and ability to work independently and as part of a team are also essential.
• Candidate should be able to coordinate and plan multi-faceted, long-term projects, including overseeing the work of other staff required to meet project deliverables and deadlines and should be able to manage project from start to finish, including scoping, design, analysis, writing, communicating results and meeting deadlines.
• Candidates should have at least ten peer reviewed journal publications.
• Candidates should have the ability to represent the programs at meetings and events along with the Director or if Director is unable to attend.

PREFERRED:
• A strong background in designing survey, managing data, applying advanced statistical analyses tools, non-market valuation techniques, and ecosystem services assessments.
