LBRE is seeking qualified applicants for the Facilities Maintenance Technician for the Stanford Redwood City Campus. This is a full-time continuing position reporting to the

Facilities Operations Manager, Stanford Redwood City Campus. This position is represented by SEIU Higher Education Workers Local 2007 and the work location will be 415 Broadway, Redwood City, California.

Our new Stanford Redwood City campus, which opened in March 2019, brings together

2,700 staff in a collaborative environment that reflects Stanford's culture and mission.

The campus will offer amenities such as onsite cafes and a dining pavilion, a high-end

fitness facility with an outdoor pool, and a childcare center for Stanford families.
Responsibilities:
Working under supervision, employees in this classification perform a variety of low

level maintenance duties. These duties may involve the use of hand tools or mechanized

equipment. At this level, employees are expected to need little on-site supervision for

routine work procedures. More complex work assignments normally require a greater

amount of supervision or guidance. Work may be spot-checked while in progress or

inspected upon completion. The employee may work alone, as a member of a crew (with

or without lead responsibility); or under direct supervision of a journey level worker or a
supervisor.
Characteristic Duties:
  • Relamp buildings
  • Repair electrical switches
  • Basic HVAC Maintenance ( i.e: filter changes, inspect thermostats/gauges)
  • Move furniture and machinery by hand or machine
  • Build and repair fences
  • Pick up construction materials at supply houses
  • Unclog drains
  • Pull electrical cable
  • Dig and move earth by hand or machines
  • Replace acoustical tile
  • Rough Carpentry (i.e.: building cement forms, barricades, sawhorses, etc)
  • General Repairs (i.e.: doors, window, walls patch and paint)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Must have the ability and knowledge necessary to safely and expeditiously perform maintenance duties.
  • Must have working knowledge in the safe use of tools, materials and equipment.
  • Familiarity of general building systems: HVAC, Electrical and Plumbing
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. English language required.
  • Able to perform on-site work successfully and professionally with minimal invasiveness in occupied environments demonstrating sensitivity to building occupants.
  • Maintains a positive service approach with consistent follow-through producing reliable results.
  • Ability to respond to changing priorities; respond to emergency calls at night and on weekends as assigned.
  • Two years of actual work experience in the trade. This may include time spent as an apprentice or in vocational training.
  • A valid California driver's license is required.
