Overview

Macalester College seeks to hire a full-time Assistant Football Coach to work in its Athletics Department. The Assistant Football coach will assist the head coach in all aspects of a NCAA Division III program. This position requires some travel, as well as evening and weekend hours.

Responsibilities
  • Organizes, prepares, and conducts safe and strategic team training sessions. Executes appropriate coaching decisions during practice and games that ensure the welfare of the student athletes representing the program.
  • Assists the head coach in developing and incorporating a comprehensive recruiting plan that shows successful results for the recruitment, yield and retention of academically and athletically qualified student-athletes in a rigorous academic environment. Serves as an effective recruiter for the program working within the parameters of Macalester and NCAA rules.  Recruitment strategy results in healthy roster numbers and a competitive program against scheduled opponents.
  • Assists the head coach in all aspects of managing a home games (securing and communicating with officials).
  • Fosters and facilitates an environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures and backgrounds.
  • Works with a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity in higher education. 
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Valid Minnesota State Driver's License required.
  • Successful coaching experience at the collegiate level required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA rules and a commitment to the academic development of student-athletes required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with staff, faculty, students, parents and alumni from diverse ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds required.
