Position SummaryThis critical position manages Student Success operations and planning, with a focus on supporting the strategic use of data and technology. The Associate Director ensures the team and its campus partners are equipped with the available tools and evidence to drive decision making and student-centered practices that support the university’s retention and graduation goals. The Associate Director serves as a liaison and thought partner with colleagues in Institutional Research, Enrollment Strategy, and Enrollment Technology to support the delivery of reports, analyses, student assessments, and dashboards based on business questions and goals. This position also works collaboratively with school and central administrative users to document needs and business requirements related to student success analytics, solutions, and tools such as NYU Connect (Starfish). The Associate Director coordinates planning and conducts project activities for the office related to specifications gathering, report and data model development, and the rollout of systems and their functionality to users. In partnership with Institutional Research and the Registrar’s Office, this position monitors processes and procedures to ensure the accuracy of data for Student Success analytics, especially data used to feed NYU Connect. The Associate Director will support the creation and delivery of trainings and campus rollouts related to NYU Connect Analytics, ensuring user acceptance and adoption of evidence-based processes and practices.QualificationsRequired Education:Bachelor's DegreePreferred Education:Master's DegreeRequired Experience:3+ years relevant experience with student affairs, student services, or equivalent combination of education and experience.Preferred Experience:1+ years of experience with at least one major BI tool such as Tableau.Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Ability to be self-sufficient to complete complex technical and functional deliverables. Experience with data analysis and translating evidence for administrators and partners. Ability to develop prototypes and visualizations for dashboard and Key Performance indicators. Ability to structure and conduct interviews to gather requirements. Strong written and oral communication skills; specifically in the area of explaining complex business process and technical concepts. Functional knowledge of the business processes in a higher education or government environment.
