General Summary

The School of Technology Studies & Professional Services Management invites applications for Assistant Professor Tenure Track/Program Coordinator in Aviation Management, which includes Aviation Management Technology & Aviation Flight Technology.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Coordinate Assessment/Accreditation/Program Review/Articulation Agreements.

Work with school director in planning, marketing and recruiting activities.

Confer periodically with the Department Head/School Director on curriculum and instruction issues.

Coordinate all co-op students' activities.

Coordinate all student advising.

Teach contractual load of courses as assigned by the department or school.

Engage in research and dissemination of pursuits that enable them to remain current in their respective disciplines.

Provide other support service to the department, college and/or university, if applicable.

Perform related departmental duties as required.

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between EMU and American Association of University Professors (AAUP), which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.

Qualifications

An earned doctoral degree in Aviation, or related field is preferred. Applicants who have achieved doctoral candidacy or equivalency will also be considered.

FAA Chief Instructor qualifications of FAR 141.35 preferred;

A current flight or ground instructor is preferred;

Have taught aviation-related courses on either a full-time or part-time basis, at a two/four-year institution of higher learning, for a minimum of five (5) years;

Have curriculum skills to design/redesign course content as new technologies emerge, prepare syllabi, exams, activities, etc.;

Have worked in the aviation industry for a minimum of three years (3);

Have industry connections or be willing to make them in order to facilitate student internships or co-op experiences;

Have technical usage experience and teaching knowledge for using online course shells;

Have good written and oral/interpersonal communication skills;

Have experience connecting with and mentoring students regarding local, state, or national professional organizations.

Preference will be given to those who have conducted research, published scholarly works, participated on research committees, or presented at professional meetings/workshops in areas relevant to the aviation industry.
