The Office of the Arts is seeking a highly organized, innately curious and professionally-minded student to support the marketing and public outreach efforts of ArtsEmerson’s 10th Anniversary Season (2019/20)19/20 Season, beginning in the Summer of 2019. ArtsEmerson is Boston’s leading presenter of contemporary world theatre and is the professional presenting and producing organization of Emerson College. It programs a full season of performances, film and dialogue that invites each of us to engage in a more contemporary narrative of Boston as a truly global city.
ArtsEmerson is the professional presenting and producing arm of Emerson College and programs productions from around the world at both the Paramount Center and Cutler Majestic Theatre. Our experienced marketing team manages all facets of public-facing marketing and communications including publicity, website, digital/social marketingsocial media, media planningpaid media (TV, radio, digital), community outreach and messaging/brandArtsEmerson branding with the primary objectives of increasing audience and meeting revenue goals for its performances.
This position’s shifts will be primarily be between 9am- 5pm during the weekMonday – Friday with occasional weekend and weeknight events staffing. Employment will begin in early Summer 2019, in late May/early June. Preference to candidates who are able to continue working throughout the upcoming school year.Required Qualifications
Integral to the success of our department is the initiative and positive impact that students bring to our work. Students’ responsibilities include (and are not limited to):
-Attending as an ArtsEmerson representative at community events in Boston
-Street teaming and postering for upcoming performances
-Assisting with digital content creation and video editing to support online and social marketing campaigns, including contributing to our blog -Market research
-Maintenance of web-based community catalogs and calendars
-Assist with ArtsEmerson social media channels Facebook, Instagram and Twitter
-Social media monitoring and marketing
-Assists with the coordination of developing and distributing marketing materials for events
Response to general inquiries via phone and e-mail
-Skills related to content creation, such as video production and editing, photography, copywriting, etc.
The right candidate will be a highly organized, proactive, creative problem solver intuitive thinker who feels comfortable working in a fast-paced, developing environment. Is curious about the world and enjoys interacting with audiences and the general public. Comfortable meeting and engaging with people and talking about ArtsEmerson and its mission. Background/knowledge of theatre and marketing a plus.Physical Demands
-Walking and comfortable with Boston neighborhoods
-Must be able to lift 25 lbs (on occasion)
