The Department of Mathematical Sciences at University of South Carolina Aiken invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship in computer science with a focus on cybersecurity to begin August 16, 2019.
USC Aiken maintains a close working relationship with Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL), and the university’s new B.S. degree program in applied computer science with a concentration in cybersecurity is the result of collaboration with SRNL and other companies in the region. The faculty member in this position will take a key role in shaping the curriculum and growing our relationship with SRNL.

Requirements: (1) Ph.D. (by August 16, 2019) in computer science with expertise in cybersecurity; (2) potential for effective teaching at the undergraduate level; and (3) evidence of productive scholarship. Successful candidates will have the qualifications for and interests in teaching a wide range of cybersecurity related courses such as secure software development, hacking techniques, cyber defense & digital forensics, information security, operating systems, and cryptography. The successful candidate will also be able to develop faculty-student research projects and strengthen relationships with local industries (e.g. SRNL, US Army Cyber Center of Excellence (located 30 miles away at Fort Gordon), EDTS, Unisys). Faculty normally teach 12 hours per semester.
