The Department of Neuropsychiatry & Behavioral Science, Division of Rehabilitation Counseling is seeking an enthusiastic and creative individual who values working collaboratively to accomplish the program’s goals. This is a full-time, 12 month, non-tenure track faculty position that is designated as core faculty in the USC’s clinical rehabilitation counseling program. The current program is accredited through 2020 by CACREP under the rehabilitation counseling standards established by the Counsel on Rehabilitation Education (CORE). The program will seek accreditation for the updated 60 credit hour program as a clinical rehabilitation counseling program, under current CACREP standards, when the reaccreditation process begins.
The faculty member will contribute significantly to the program’s mission through teaching, scholarship/creative accomplishment, and service. The individual must be able to work under minimal supervision, with extensive latitude for the use of initiative ad independent judgment.
Earned doctorate in counselor education and supervision, preferably from a CACREP-accredited program, or have a doctoral degree in a related field and been employed as a full-time faculty member in a counselor education program for a minimum of one full academic year before 7/1/2013. ABD candidates will be considered.
Preparation and experience in counselor education and supervision and/or in clinical rehabilitation counseling.
Identification with the counseling profession through memberships and professional organizations (i.e., ACA and/or its divisions).
Extensive knowledge in the field in which the individual will be teaching.
Experience providing counseling supervision to counseling students.
Eligibility for National Certified Counselor (NCC) and South Carolina licensed professional counselor (LPC) credentials within 6 months of hire.
Ability to communicate in both oral and written form.
Experience of capacity to contribute to process of CACREP accreditation, curriculum development, assessment, and program evaluation.
Experience providing mental health and/or career counseling to people with disabilities.
Ability to teach clinical rehabilitation courses such as Medical Aspects of Disability. Psychosocial Aspects of Disability, and/or Career Counseling.
Ability to teach counseling courses such as Theories and Practice, Group Counseling, and Practicum.
Capacity to advise diverse students.
Evidence of a scholarly agenda in the field of clinical rehabilitation counseling.
Eligibility for Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC).
