The College of Education at the University of South Carolina (UofSC) seeks a senior scholar and faculty member for a 9-month appointment, with expertise in higher education leadership and public policy who is a dynamic leader and will serve as Executive Director of the Center for Innovation in Higher Education (CIHE). The CIHE serves as the hub of innovative and disruptive ideas, research and services that reshape education to be socially responsible and equitable for all citizens. The CIHE is comprised of an interdisciplinary group of faculty members and research personnel with complementary interests in education and university-community partnerships. A major emphasis of the Executive Director’s responsibilities will be to work to create change, spread knowledge and improve opportunities for students, faculty and the community.Required Education and Experience
A successful candidate must have the following: (1) an earned doctorate from an accredited institution in higher education administration or a closely related interdisciplinary field; (2) a demonstrated record of scholarship that merits a tenured faculty appointment as an associate or full professor; (3) documented record of high-quality publications, e.g. peer-reviewed journal articles, edited works, or books (with university presses or top-tiered publishing houses); (4) experience and success in obtaining external funding; (5) excellent written, interpersonal, and oral communication skills; and (6) a desire to lead a team-based, dynamic center.Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates who have: (1) evidence of interdisciplinary approach to research; (2) experience leading academic, research, and grant-seeking initiatives; (3) international reputation and internationally recognized research agenda focused on education and leadership related to social or public policy; (4) experience including leading teams, such as serving as a director, assistant director, or similar leadership roles in research focused environments; (5) evidence of being a visionary leader who is not afraid to disrupt the status quo; and (6) experience working with diverse students, scholars, and community members.Posting Detail Information Desired Start DateJob Open Date09/17/2018Job Close DateOpen Until FilledYesSpecial Instructions to Applicant
