Faculty position to teach on the Spartanburg and/or Greenville campus.

The University of South Carolina Upstate Division of Mathematics and Computer Science is accepting applications for a non-tenure track Instructor of Computer Science position with a star date of August 16, 2019. Duties will include teaching undergraduate courses in computer science, advising students, and participating in internal and external service activities.

USC Upstate is seeking teacher-scholars who (i) have a commitment to excellence in teaching and working with a diverse student population and (ii) show clear potential for scholarly research and publication. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in student and civic engagement and active learning pedagogies, (e.g. service-learning, mentoring undergraduate research, and the scholarship of teaching, learning and application). Experience with teaching online or hybrid courses is a plus. Required Education and Experience

Master’s degree in Computer Science or closely related field with a minimum of 18 hours of graduate work in Computer Science required by time of appointment. Candidates should have excellent communication skills and relevant teaching experience. Successful background check is required.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in Computer Science with coursework in one or more of the following areas: Computer Organization and Architecture, Robotics, E-Business and Web Application Development.
