Warren Wilson College is seeking a licensed mental health professional with the right aptitude, education and experience to be a part of a dynamic team entrusted with maximizing the wellness and actualization of students. The ideal candidate is a seasoned LPC or LCSW with identified areas of expertise such as addiction, CBT, DBT, trauma specific, and/or eating disorders. Competitive applicants would possess at least one year of post-licensure experience in the field with demonstrated success in establishing effective one on one relationships with individuals seeking counseling services. Previous experience counseling young people, ages 18-24 is strongly preferred.

Under the leadership of the Director of Counseling, the Counselor through individual and group counseling, referrals, programming, training, and coaching, assists students in coping with and clarifying the challenges inherent in the academic arena and the transition to adulthood. The Counselor utilizes their knowledge, values, and skills in supporting students’ paths to personal, emotional, academic, and spiritual wellness.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master’s degree in Counseling or Social Work required.
  • Current clinical license strongly preferred.
  • One year post-licensure experience preferred.
  • Broad understanding of adolescent and student development theory and practice.
  • Expertise in practice of current therapeutic treatment modalities to include but not limited to cognitive, behavioral, psychodynamic, solution focused, group counseling, psychoeducational, and family systems, within a college counseling context.
  • Working knowledge of mental health and substance abuse assessment, treatment, referral, case management, and crisis intervention.
  • Ability to link effectively with community resources and treatment providers to enhance continuity in student support activities.
  • Ability to plan, deliver, and evaluate appropriate educational programs for students and staff.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide a full range of short-term individual and group counseling services to include assessment, counseling, referral, and crisis intervention.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Counseling, Vice President for Student Life, Health Services, Chaplain, and the Residential Life staff in responding to individual and campus crisis; serves as a member of the College emergency response team at the discretion of the Director.
  • Collaborate in developing and implementing effective, proactive, and holistic campus wide responses to address the psycho-social needs of students and campus community members.
  • Assist in developing and implementing appropriate and effective campus wide wellness programming and training.
  • Collaborate in designing training for the Residence Life staff and Peer Orientation program.
  • Assist in Counseling Center administrative duties to include: priority setting, budgeting, crew support and guidance, and compiling annual reports.
  • Ensure a continuity of services for students beyond WWC by maintaining an ongoing professional relationship with the Pisgah Institute and the College Consortium, as well as with other community providers, agencies and organizations.
  • Participate in on-call rotation; provide after-hours availability as needed.
  • Maintain a current clinical license, or actively work toward obtaining a clinical license.
  • Perform other related duties as requested.
