Preferred QualificationsPosition Summary

This is a highly responsible professional position performing a wide variety of admissions functions for the university. An employee allocated to this class of work is responsible for the leadership and the direction of a major admissions function. Areas include recruitment, counseling and advising of first year and transfer students. Work is to be performed with considerable independence under general direction of an administrative superior.

Position to be located in the Los Angeles metro area.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

Considerable knowledge of admissions policies and procedures. Considerable knowledge of recruitment and marketing strategies for prospective college students, parents and school counselors. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of people. Ability to communicate ideas effectively in writing and orally before large groups. Ability to maintain accurate records, assemble, and organize data and to prepare reports.

Physical Demands

Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time. Ability to use a computer effectively for prolonged periods of time. Ability to lift 30lbs.

Coordinates high school and transfer student recruitment and counselor relation programs in CA. Travel to high schools, college fairs and community colleges in CA. Develop relationships with secondary schools, students and parents in assigned territory and serve as primary UGA liaison in territory.

Review student files in review process for admissions and scholarships.

Plan visitation days, conferences and other recruitment/yield events. Represent the University of Georgia at regional events.

Maintains correspondence and support to prospective students via email, written communication and telephone.

Prepare publications and media presentations for recruitment purposes. Develop literature explaining the University’s admissions procedures and policies in conjunction with office management team.
