The Department of Music at the University of North Alabama is seeking applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor.  This position will also serve as the Associate Director of Bands.  Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position has been filled.  Anticipated appointment begin date of August 1, 2019.

The University of North Alabama is a regional, state-supported institution and an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music.  The Department of Music has approximately 140 music majors, 15 full-time and 19 adjunct music faculty members. 

Responsibilities of this position include: assist the director in all aspects of band rehearsal, administration, planning, creative work, and logistics; conduct athletic bands; recruit outstanding students; pursue performance opportunities and other creative/scholarly activities; serve on department/university committees as needed; serve as an academic advisor; and perform additional duties as assigned by the department chair.

Doctorate in music or music education is required; ABD-status candidates may be considered, but will require a non-tenure-track appointment until degree conferral; Evidence of successful teaching and band conducting, including college/university-level experience, as well as significant experience with marching band and work within a comprehensive collegiate band program, is also required.
