The Student Life – Athletics and Recreation department and Exercise Science program at Maryville University is seeking applicants for a non-tenure-track faculty appointment to begin August 1, 2019. We are looking for a broadly trained faculty member to teach exercise science courses 4-6 hours/semester, direct the human performance lab, and lead the Saints Athletics strength and conditioning program.

This position is responsible for developing and managing the strength and conditioning program for our athletics department, in collaboration with head coaches, while managing strength and conditioning student assistants and interns as they implement programming. This position is also responsible for the scheduling, coordination, and running of human performance testing in the Exercise Science Human Performance Lab. Lab coordination will include scholarship/research. The candidate must be committed to fostering a culturally diverse atmosphere for faculty, staff and students.

Maryville University is a member of the NCAA Division II and Great Lakes Valley Conference with 18 varsity sports with active involvement of around 435 student-athletes.

Responsibilities:
•Human Performance Lab Coordinator-
oBe the lab lead and liaison between academics and athletics
oSchedule, coordinate with athletic teams and academic (EXSC) students, provide oversight of testing procedures
oCoordinate conduct outreach activities within local community (local law enforcement, military, youth, and professional sports teams)
oManage two work-study lab assistants (1 senior, 1 junior)
oAssist faculty with hands-on, active learning opportunities within various classes

•Instructor-
oInstruct 3-4 hours per semester (generally lab-type and field experience coursework)

•Strength & Conditioning Coach-
oProvide oversight of all athletic programs
oMeet with various sports teams to ensure appropriate and sport-specific strength and conditioning practices are being followed
oManage student assistants, interns and or graduate assistants to increase the capacity of the department

Minimum Qualifications

•Master’s degree in Kinesiology or Exercise Science
•CSCS or SCCC certification and CPR/AED certification required
•Experience developing and coordinating programs for all athletes in all areas of strength training, as well as speed, agility, plyometric, flexibility, and cardiovascular training

Preferred Qualifications

•Experience leading academic coursework; course design, delivering active learning sessions/classes, and grading
•Experience with human performance-based lab equipment; force plates, velocity-based training implements, body composition analysis, timing gates, WattBikes and metabolic analyzers
