General Summary Under the general direction provided by the Principal and Curriculum Coordinator, this individual's major responsibilities include finding substitutes in the event of teacher and nurse absences, serving as the administrator of Absence Management, creating schedules and supervising the before and after school student workers and PAWS workers, scheduling observation/teacher evaluation appointments for the Principal and Curriculum Coordinator, scheduling transportation requests for field trips and professional development, updating the Metcalf website, maintaining the official record of professional development documentation of the district.
Additional Information: This is a continuous, year-round position. This position is not subject to summer academic break layoff.

Metcalf Laboratory School is a service unit of the College of Education of Illinois State University. It offers a comprehensive program of instruction for 400+ students in grades PreK-8. Metcalf is a caring community of life-long learners. Its mission is to act as a model for educational methods and theory in support of the preparation of future educators, conduct educational research, offer quality educational programs for children, and disseminate information to others in the educational profession.
Required Qualifications 1. High school graduation or equivalent.

2. One (1) year (12 months) of work experience comparable to the second level of this series.

3. Any one or any combination of the following, totaling two (2) years (24 months) of experience in the categories below:
a. work experience performing office/clerical activities, including use of computer systems
b. college or university coursework in any curriculum
- twelve (12) semester hours = six (6) months
- twenty-four (24) semester hours = twelve (12) months
- thirty-six (36) semester hours = eighteen (18) months
- forty-eight (48) semester hours = twenty-four (24) months

**Note: Amounts of experience or training less than those listed above should be converted to decimal equivalents of 1.0 unit and added together when computing combinations of the different types of preparation.

If this position is Security Sensitive or if you are subject to a criminal background investigation based on University policy, then employment is contingent upon you passing a satisfactory criminal background investigation. You may not begin work until the criminal background investigation results have been received and cleared by Human Resources.
Desired Qualifications: 1. Two or more years of office experience.

2. The ability to interact with the public, students, parents, and faculty in a sensitive, tactful manner.

3. A high level of computer skills and the ability to quickly learn new computer programs and systems.

4. Ability to multi-task and maintain confidentiality.

5. Ability to work effectively with frequent interruptions.

6. Excellent work ethic and the ability to work independently.
