POSITION DETAILS

The Financial Aid Manager will report to the Director of Financial Aid. This position includes responsibility for fiscal accountability in fund management and disbursement; coordinating technology and information systems; efficient administration of student financial aid funds; discretion, program integrity, and compliance; collaborative integrative and efficient communications with campus constituencies; and effective use of the web, publications, social media, public speaking, or other means to provide information for current/prospective students.In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, the Financial Aid Manager will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Manages and monitors the NY State Excelsior Scholarship and other NY State Aid programs

  • Manages and administers most aspects of scholarship programs

  • Assesses scholarship needs and opportunities for Hunter students

  • Serves as a liaison to academic departments, Institutional Advancement, and students in scholarship matters; designing a unified approach to all scholarship activities, establishing a policy for selecting and tracking students

  • Manages scholarship software to identify eligible entering and continuing undergraduate and graduate students

  • Maintains and updates the account and scholarship information system and website information

  • Develops standardized reports with regard to structure and submission across multiple offices including the Institutional Advancement and Business Offices and implement committed funds report component into the system

  • Participates in scholarship planning committee events to continuously improve scholarship distribution to students

  • Reviews and reconciles end of year accounts for scholarship portfolio

  • Manages and assists other areas of Financial Aid as assigned

  • Must be able to work some evenings and occasional weekends

QUALIFICATIONS

­Bachelor's Degree and six years' related experience required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Six years’ experience in a fast-paced financial aid environment

  • A current and comprehensive knowledge of federal and state aid programs, regulatory compliance along with a high degree of proficiency with automated financial aid systems (preferably CUNYfirst/PeopleSoft/Oracle)

  • Ability to communicate clearly through written and verbal communications

  • Strong organizational and problem solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW

Plans, develops and implements financial aid policies and processes in accordance with Federal, State and University standards.

  • Manages financial aid activities and represents the office at on-campus and off-campus meetings and forums

  • Manages day-to day administrative and systems operations for optimal efficiency and customer service; manages special processes such as Return of Title IV Aid

  • Provides comprehensive financial counseling to parents and students

  • Implements all necessary processes to support financial aid application, awarding and delivery cycles

  • Oversees the coordination of financial aid activities with those of other College and University offices

  • Implements and maintains web based services

  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Salary commensurate with education and experience ($61,394-$87,495).
