The Assistant Director for Occupancy Management is responsible for fostering an environment conducive to both personal and professional growth for students and achieving the objectives of a successful University Housing program that connects to the academic mission of CSU. The Assistant Director of University Housing for Occupancy Management is responsible for providing leadership in the overall operation of a 12-month housing system. Primary responsibilities include: occupancy management; leadership for assignments processes; supervision of 2 FTE Coordinators focused on residence hall and apartment assignments. Additionally, this person will assist, in collaboration with other Housing & Dining Services staff, management of operations of University Housing including major processes including residence hall opening/closing and break housing, as well as operational needs of housing facilities such as planned maintenance and building/apartment turnover cleaning.

The Assistant Director will carry out their responsibilities under the supervision of the Associate Director for Occupancy Management. To be successful, the Assistant Director must be well-organized and able to work effectively under pressure with multiple and consistently changing deadlines, possess interpersonal communication skills, administrative skills, and demonstrated experience taking initiative. The Assistant Director position requires a strong aptitude for establishing and maintaining effective and collaborative working relationships with multiple campus offices and constituents, including students, staff, and faculty within the university community.

In addition, experience working with diverse individuals such as non-traditional aged, religiously diverse, gender, international, people with disabilities, gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender, and persons of color is essential to be effective in the Assistant Director position.
