Candidate will serve as a staff member of UGA Cooperative Extension Spalding County and report to the Spalding County Extension Coordinator. A critical funding component of this position will be to work directly with the Griffin Housing Authority in the outreach, mentoring and education of public housing residents who participate in the Healthy Life Community Gardening and Parke Pointe Program.

Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position

High School Diploma, GED, or relevant experience.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

Candidate must show: successful experience, communication ability, skills in leadership and management, a demonstrated ability to multi-task and work as a team member with group. Candidate will be involved in community garden establishment and maintenance; garden work will be an integral part of teaching and leading in this position.

Physical Demands

Moderate physical work: lift and carry weights of 40-60 pounds, occasionally exerting up to one hundred pounds of force. Carry out garden work including and not limited to: garden design and layout; operate garden tiller, compressed air garden sprayer, shovel, hoe, rake and other common gardening equipment; and problem solve.
