Clinical Faculty and Site Director: Pupil Personnel Services Program – North Fresno Campus

POSITION: Full-time, with faculty rank; non-continuing status track; clinical position; 11-month faculty appointment in the School of Education.

STARTING DATE:  July 1, 2019 or as soon as a suitable candidate is discerned.

This position provides direction and support for the Pupil Personnel Services Programs on the North Fresno Campus. This includes the School Counseling, School Psychology and BCBA programs for both master’s degree and credential candidates in Fresno County and its surroundings. The Director will coordinate with FPU Campuses in Merced, Bakersfield and Visalia and will meet regularly with the PPS faculty, the School of Education faculty, and the PPS Division Chair. This position will also be responsible for teaching courses for the PPS Programs. The Program Site Director reports directly to the Chair of the PPS Division and the Dean of the School of Education.

ROLE

  • Ongoing professional development and participation in professional organizations, and agencies;
  • Maintain professional memberships and professional development;
  • Work with the PPS Program Directors for Counseling, School Psychology and BCBA, as well as faculty and staff who work within the PPS programs;
  • Attendance at all Program Director and Faculty meetings;
  • Oversee all continuing and new program initiatives within the program and ensure the academic quality and integrity of the program;
  • Initiate recommendations regarding program planning, course scheduling, and faculty assignments within the program, in conjunction with the PPS Chair and Dean of the School of Education;
  • Lead the academic activities of the faculty within the program and monitor the performance of the program, in conjunction with the PPS Chair and Dean of the School of Education;
  • Represent the program to the internal and external communities, e.g. California Teacher Credentialing (CTC), WSCUC, other Federal and State regulatory agencies, internship sites, and professional associations;
  • Support (by offering advice and consultation) marketing and public relations initiatives for the program, in conjunction with the Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Services and the North Fresno Campus director and staff;
  • Develop and sustain relationships with local schools and other educational agencies for the purpose of fostering high quality student teaching placements and building school partnerships;
  • Selection of qualified instructors at the terminal level in their area of expertise and with practical experience in the field, and review vita of all current instructors and new instructors for qualifications to teach in PPS programs;
  • Monitor syllabi content from every instructor;
  • Monitor IRB research designs for qualitative or quantitative methods of analysis;
  • Conduct faculty meetings with FPU PPS faculty at Regional Campuses at least once per semester (via teleconferencing when necessary);
  • Support planning and development, outreach, and recruitment of students;
  • Monitor Independent Research Project and Exit Portfolio development;
  • Carry out other duties as assigned by the PPS Chair and Dean of the School of Education.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Current PPS or BCBA credential with work experience in the K-12 setting in California.
  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology or Education
  • Current knowledge of state certification regulations, including knowledge of practicum and internship requirements including the selection of permissible sites for practicum and internship training;
  • Experience and sensitivity in managing people in complex organizational settings;
  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills;
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills;
  • Proven administrative experience within PPS programs;
  • Experience with managing academic programs for working adults;
  • Experience with the development of extensive networks and connections with external stakeholders;
  • The ability to work well with colleagues, other professionals, and adult students;
  • Commitment to the Christian faith and the University’s mission of Christ-centered teaching and learning and involvement in a local church.

Preferred:

  • Record or promise of scholarly achievement;

COMPENSATION: Dependent on qualifications and experience, and paid out over 12 months. Full-time benefits include insurance (medical, vision, dental, LTD), retirement (TIAA-CREF), Section 125 options.
