Serves as the Institutional Research Board (IRB) administrator for all three campuses. Responsible for interpreting IRB federal, state, local, and other regulations as they apply to IRB human research protocols and/or proposals and then directing, reporting, and monitoring adherence for all three University campuses grants, contracts and any activities involving human research (Institutional Review Board [IRB]) under Federal Wide Assurances.Essential Functions
1.Responsible for the direction, coordination, reporting, and monitoring of the federal, state, and other relevant fiduciary approval process for all IRB human research protocols.
2.Manages Program Staff assigned to handle human subjects research.
3.Provides professional and advanced support and guidance and interpretation of relevant governing statutory regulations and codes to IRB members reviewing protocols.
4.Provides and documents training for faculty pursuing research involving human subjects.
5.Provides administrative support and/or investigative support to the IRB for all noncompliance investigations according to University policy and federal regulations, laws and other relevant codes and guidelines.
6.Assumes responsibility for an up-to-date IRB protocol database.
7.Prepares the annual report of IRB in accordance with the University’s Federal Wide Assurance (FWA).
8.Revises and updates IRB manual content and polices per federal regulation changes in consultation with the Chair(s) of IRB, and Director of Research and Compliance.
9.Participates in internal and external audits of IRB.
10.Performs other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications
•Two (2) years college course work.
•One (1) year of IRB experience or one (1) year of experience interpreting/applying federal or state regulations in an approval process.
•Certified IRB Professional (CIP certificate).
•Three years working with IRB.
•Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
•Experience working with faculty and students.
•Intermediate to advanced skills in MS Office suite, and Adobe Acrobat Pro. Ability to adapt to emerging technology.
•Excellent writing and oral communication skills.
•Excellent event/meeting scheduling and records management skills.
•Positive attitude, proven ability to work successfully with diverse populations and demonstrated commitment to promote and enhance diversity and inclusion.
