Job Details
The Associate Director provides oversight for the Counseling Center’s clinical services and related staff management and administrative duties; Titanium Schedule/database administration and management, General administration representing the director and center when needed including staff supervision, liaisons, committees, consultations, etc.; Assists with the organization and integration of the center’s training, counseling, outreach and consulting activities; and manages evaluation and assessment of services and programs.
The Associate Director assesses and provides appropriate counseling or referral services for students; Engages in appropriate professional practice as outlined by legal and ethical standards; and participates in the development and delivery of proactive, psycho-education programming initiatives, as needed. Additional duties include: participating in the after-hour /on-call rotation; providing general and clinical supervision services, as needed; Developing and maintaining strong relationships with campus colleagues in order to provide services which meet the assessed needs of campus; and Providing consultation and training services for the campus community regarding social / emotional needs for students. Provides administrative duties as requested or assigned.
Minimum RequirementsAn earned doctorate in counseling or clinical psychology is required. Four years of post-doctoral clinical counseling experience with demonstrated experience in providing crisis intervention services is required; A minimum of two years of experience as a staff member (not a pre-or-post doctoral trainee) in a university counseling center setting is required unless candidate demonstrates presence of substantially similar clinical, administrative, programming training and consultation experience. A minimum of two years of administrative experience including staff management and supervision is required.
List the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the essential functions of the positionExperience with an electronic records system is required. Experience in developing and providing psycho-educational programming for a college-aged population is required; as are strong interpersonal, oral and writing skills. Current licensure/certification or eligibility for appropriate licensure/certification in the State of North Carolina is required. Once licensed, NC licensure must be maintained to remain eligible for employment.
Preferred formal education, professional skills and work experienceSix years of post-doctoral clinical counseling experience with demonstrated experience in providing crisis intervention services is strongly preferred; A minimum of three years of experience as a staff member (not a pre-or-post doctoral trainee) in a university counseling center setting unless candidate demonstrates presence of substantially similar clinical, administrative, programming training and consultation experience. A minimum of three years of administrative experience including staff management and supervision is highly preferred. A minimum of five years of experience as a staff member (not a pre-or-post doctoral trainee) providing counseling, programming/outreach, consultation, training, and administrative services within a college counseling center setting is strongly preferred. Experience with assessment, program development, software platforms/packages and quality assurance is strongly preferred. Experience with Titanium Schedule or a similar counseling center-related electronic scheduling and records system is strongly desired. Professional association involvement is strongly preferred. Additional expertise in at least one other area including but not limited to mood management, mind-body principles, crisis management, clinical training, supervision, technology or data/records management, multicultural concerns, groups, developmental issues or substance abuse is highly desired.
