The St. George Sustainability Office (SO) is empowered to develop and promote a culture of sustainability with staff, students and faculty members. The SO, acts as a resource hub for sustainability awareness, services and collaboration on campus, and engages the campus community through a variety of programs, social media, communications, and outreach. We are change leaders who curate and celebrate environmental initiatives at the University of Toronto, and this is your opportunity to become a key contributor to the team. With overall responsibility to the Director, Sustainability Office, you will facilitate programs and communications for various projects and initiatives on the St. George Campus, as well as develop, engage and maintain partnerships with internal and external organizations and institutions in the field of sustainability. You will find yourself making outreach materials, progress/activity reports, preparing, and sometimes delivering, presentations and communicating achievements. You will also be responsible for tracking financial project expenditures, ensuring invoices are paid and maintaining various data bases. We educate, inspire & connect! Your responsibilities will include:
  • Liaising between stakeholders and/or contractors
  • Planning components of projects
  • Developing project schedules including milestones, critical path, timelines, deliverables and reporting
  • Developing content for marketing and/or promotional materials
  • Conceptualizing special events and/or functions
  • Monitoring accounts for a project and/or program
  • Resolving issues that may occur during events and escalating problems as required
  • Coordinating meeting schedules, agendas, materials, action and follow-up items


CampusEssential Qualifications:
  • University degree in a related discipline such as Sustainability, Environmental Sciences.
  • Minimum three years' related experience providing support with the development, implementation, facilitation, assessment and maintenance of sustainability programs, projects and initiatives.
  • Sound knowledge of the environmental, economic and social benefits of sustainability.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and tracking project budgets and expenditures.
  • Experience utilizing social media as an outreach mechanism, writing articles/communications and editing/maintaining web site content.
  • Excellent computer skills using Microsoft Office.
  • Proficiency in social media platforms (Twitter, Instagram, etc.), and newsletter platforms (e.g. Mailchimp).
  • Comfort with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and Wordpress (web site content management) would be an asset.
