General Summary Certified Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing who works with students with hearing loss attending their home school and other educational sites. The hearing itinerant teacher will provide direct services per the IEP process to those students who have identified hearing loss; serve as a consultant to school personnel, evaluate students who have been referred through the appropriate channels; and promote interest in and an understanding of the implications of a hearing loss.

Required Qualifications 1. Bachelor's Degree in Special Education, Deaf and Hard of Hearing
2. Professional Educator License
3. Experience with managing an itinerant caseload
4. A valid driver's license
5. Ability to travel within the HILIA (Heart of Illinois Low Incidence Association) member districts in a timely fashion. (https://roe17.org/resources/hilia)
6. If this position is Security Sensitive or if you are subject to a criminal background investigation based on University policy, employment is contingent upon you passing a satisfactory criminal background investigation. You may not begin work until the criminal background investigation results have been received and cleared by Human Resources.
Desired Qualifications: 1. One to three years' experience as a Teacher of the Deaf
2. Experience using, maintaining, and troubleshooting equipment (CIs, BAHAs, FM Systems, and hearing aids)
3. Experience with diagnostic assessments and implementation of services based upon the data collected
4. Experience with training students and teachers in the use and care of amplification systems
5. Ability to communicate using ASL (American Sign Language) and SEE (Signing Exact English)
6. Good organization and communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members
Necessary Licenses/Certifications/Degrees 1. Bachelor's Degree in Special Education, Deaf and Hard of Hearing

3. A valid driver's license
Hiring Rate/Range Commensurate with experience and qualifications
Stipend:
Work Hours Typically Monday through Friday school hours with occasional weekend and evening hours.
