The Student Services Assistant - Financial Aid is responsible for providing prompt, courteous and accurate customer service to students and parents at any of the AACC campuses. The Student Services Assistant collects and screens paperwork for completion prior to delivery to the appropriate office staff member for review and processing. This position provides general clerical support to the Financial Aid Office.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Under the direct supervison of the Assistant Director of Financial Aid, the Student Services Assistant maintains a working knowledge of office and college procedures in order to deliver customer service support to students and parents at the counter or by phone, as directed. Assist students with completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Refer students and parents to other office staff members or campus offices, as appropriate, to ensure a high level of service. Provide and collect forms and paperwork needed to process student eligibility.

Provide general clerical support, including scanning of paperwork to ImageNow, mail sorting, data entry, proofreading, answering general financial aid emails, tracking and ordering supplies, and assisting with various tasks associated with financial aid programs.

Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED required.

A minimum of one (1) year of relevant customer service/office experience and the ability to tactfully deal with a diverse population of students and parents.

Effective interpersonal and verbal skills.

Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, to meet the needs of the office.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Colleague and ImageNow.

At least one year of experience working in a Financial Aid Office or in a related Enrollment Services capacity at a regionally accredited Post-Secondary Educational Institution

Familiar with the Federal Student Aid (FSA) application process, understanding of the eligibility criteria for FSA, State, and Institutional forms of Financial Aid
