Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Department of Finance, Insurance, Real Estate and Law (FIREL) in the College of Business at the University of North Texas (UNT) seeks applicants for a department chair beginning in August 2019 for the Fall 2019 semester. Successful applicants must have a record of scholarly achievement appropriate for appointment at the rank of Professor with tenure.
As one of the largest business schools in the nation, the University of North Texas (UNT) College of Business is the choice of nearly 5,800 students. The college has been continuously accredited by the AACSB since 1961. UNT is also ranked among the nation's top-tier research universities by Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education.
The Chair is the academic leader of the department. Responsibilities include program development, faculty and staff recruiting and evaluation, strategic planning, and participation in the governance of the College. The Chair will direct an advisory board composed of alumni and corporate constituents. Chairs should participate in corporate outreach and engagement as well as involvement in their professional discipline. Chairs will normally teach one course each semester.

Minimum Qualifications:
The individual must hold a Ph.D in finance, real estate, insurance, business law or a related discipline.
Preferred Qualifications:
Special consideration will be given to candidates whose discipline area is finance. A preferred applicant's record includes a history of leadership as a chair, assistant chair, program director or associate dean. Continued research engagement through refereed publications and/or funded research is desirable.
