Assistant Director of External Relations

This position is responsible for assisting with the coordination of external outreach and relationship development for the Robert Day Scholars Program, which includes a comprehensive internship and fulltime placement plan for the Robert Day Scholars, at both the undergraduate and graduate level. The Assistant Director will form partnerships with faculty, alumni, students, and employers to develop recruitment and networking opportunities for Robert Day Scholars, as well as the greater CMC community, across a variety of industries. Development of student and external relationships along with expanding student internships and placement opportunities are the primary components of the position. The position will report to the Director of the Robert Day Scholars Program.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
EXTERNAL RELATIONS (60%):
- In conjunction with the External Relations Team, execute the external relations strategy to develop internship and full-time opportunities for students through relationship development with Robert Day Scholar alumni, CMC alumni, CMC parents and friends of the College;
- Through demonstrating a strong understanding of the skill set requirements of employers, provide one-on-one career counseling to Robert Day Scholars to help them explore options, learn and utilize career development resources, interview effectively, and understand the process of finding employment;
- Assist the External Relations team in organizing and executing networking trips which will include organizing company visits, alumni receptions and individual recruiting activities for Scholars;
- Actively contribute to the CMC on-campus recruiting program to include fulltime and internship job postings, career fairs, information sessions and other on-campus engagement; maintain ongoing relationships with current recruiters and firms; broaden the recruitment program effectively connecting parents and alumni within networks to leverage relationships;
- Assist in delivering professional development workshops as requested to contribute to the personal & professional development course required by the Robert Day Scholars Program;
- Identify, cultivate and coordinate the development of strong institutional relationships with industry experts and relevant employers utilizing various networks and the CMC Office of Advancement, faculty and research institutes;
- Organize and coordinate special projects, events, and other duties as required;
- Performs other essential duties and tasks specific to the position.
EXPERIENTIAL FUNDING (20%):
- Work with the External Relations team to facilitate and manage Scholar access to experiential learning to include: reviewing student proposals and budgets, tracking annual spending, and processing necessary paperwork to award funding;
- Maintain tracking database of all student experiential funding activity
- Work with Program Administrative Assistant in processing funding checks
BOARD MANAGEMENT (20%):
- Support the Director of the Robert Day Scholars Program in managing the Robert Day Scholars Board of Associates, to include facilitating student mentorship, planning of various professional development opportunities, board meetings, and overall engagement;
- Ensure that student documentation is up to date in student information system for the board mentorship program
- Participate in bi-annual board meetings, which includes taking board meeting minutes

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree is required. Graduate degree in Business or other business-related field is preferred.
EXPERIENCE: A minimum of three years of related experience including experience in constituency development, recruiting and/or student counseling is required.
LICENSES: A valid driver’s license or equivalent means of reliable transportation to off-site meetings and events is required.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES: Individual must possess knowledge, skills, and ability to be able to successfully perform the essential functions of the position, or be able to explain or demonstrate how the essential functions will be performed, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge skills and abilities.
- Demonstrated experience in working with students and building cohorts;
- Demonstrated experience in counseling high achieving students in developing and meeting their career goals; preferably within the financial services, consulting and/or technology industries;
- Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining professional networks, across industries, and engaging them in an efficient and meaningful manner;
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups of people, including students, alumni, faculty, administrators, parents, employers, trustees and other important school stakeholders;
- Excellent writing, communication, research and formal/information presentation skills;
- Ability to work independently and take ownership over projects in an organized and positive fashion;
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment;
- Travel is required, up to 25% of the time, both domestically and internationally.
The regular hours for this full time position are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday. Holiday, weekend and evening work hours will be required. Travel will be required up to 25% of the time. Regular hours may vary due to needs of the College or division. This is a 12-month position.

This is a full-time, 12-month, exempt level, benefits-eligible position.
