Scope of Assignment

Head Volleyball Coach-Women’s Varsity

Minimum Qualifications

Any bachelor’s degree or higher and two years of professional experience, or any associate degree and six years of professional experience.
OR
Master’s degree in physical education, exercise science, education with an emphasis in physical education, kinesiology, physiology of exercise, or adaptive physical education,
OR
Bachelor’s degree in any of the above
AND
Master’s degree in any life science, dance, physiology, health education, recreation administration, or physical therapy
OR the equivalent

Desirable Qualifications

Experience coaching volleyball and/or Master’s Degree

Desirable Professional CharacteristicsExample of Duties

Perform all head coaching duties including:
— Teaching fundamentals, organizing practices, game preparation, conditioning, scheduling, and budget management.
—Recruitment of student athletes in compliance with the California Community Colleges Athletic Association Constitution and Bylaws.
—Liaison to four-year institutions and assist these institutions when evaluating MJC athletes.
—Represent the District in a professional manner when relating to public and media relations.
—Assist the athletic director in maintaining student progress and transferability.
—Maintain and observe the rules as they apply to the maximum number of certified eligible student athletes.
—-Assist athletic trainer in preventing injuries and ensuring proper conditioning for student athletes when returning from injuries.
—Other duties and responsibilities as they relate to this position.
