Dean of Students

Georgia College is accepting applications for the Dean of Students position.  This position is the second ranking position in Student Affairs at Georgia College.  The Dean of Students oversees the quality of student experience outside the classroom. The position has a direct impact on the success of the Division of Student Affairs. The Dean of Students assumes the duties of the Vice President for Student Affairs when the Vice President is unavailable.

The formal roles of the Office of the Dean of Students include oversight for all student conduct, behavioral and crisis response (CARE Team), emergency withdrawals, policy review and compliance, and student advocacy and support.

The Dean of Students collaborates across all areas and constituents within the greater university community to enhance the student experience.

The position impacts organizational programs, services and operations that collectively influence the quality of student life on campus. The Dean needs a high degree of understanding of student development theory and generational trends in student populations and must be able to amend policies and practices to help meet student needs.

Minimum requirements are a master’s degree in a related field with a minimum of at least six years post-master’s demonstrated success in the Student Affairs arena.

Preferences are a terminal degree (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) and understanding and experience with Title lX.
