Metropolitan College of New York (MCNY), an innovative, non-profit college that provides a uniquely effective educational model, seeks a Recruitment Coordinator/Admissions Counselor to work in collaboration with the Admissions and Enrollment Management team. The college’s academic and social justice mission aims to prepare students for professional success and empower them to deliver positive change to their communities and workplaces. The college’s two new, state-of-the-art campuses are ideally located on West Street in the Financial District and in the South Bronx in the Hub district.

The Coordinator/Counselor is responsible for developing partnerships with businesses, nonprofit organizations, and colleges and schools that lead to increased enrollment of undergraduate and graduate students. The ideal candidate must be a dynamic, creative professional who possesses the ability to build and maintain relationships with businesses, agencies, colleges, and prospective students who are well suited for degree programs at MCNY.

Reporting to the Vice President of Enrollment Management & Student Affairs, the Coordinator/Counselor provides admissions and preliminary academic counseling to adult, transfer, prospective, and returning students regarding admission policies, procedures, and academic programs. She/he will conduct research to identify new leads, potential markets, and strategies that align with MCNY’s program offerings; identify and develop relationships with key decision-makers in prospective organizations; counsel prospective students and applicants for degree programs; participate in a full range of recruitment activities for students that support the College’s strategic enrollment goals; and assist the Director of Admissions in organizing and creating forums and presentations for high schools and organizations.

Qualifications include Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of recruitment experience. Higher education and admissions preferred. Proven knowledge of community businesses and job market trends. Strong organizational and communication skills (verbal and written), and ability to work independently and with teams. Some evening and weekend hours will be required.
