SUMMARY:

The Slate Technology Specialist in the Office of Admission serves as systems, data, and processes subject matter expert. The position manages data imports and exports to Slate, including inquiry and applicant data; creates and maintains system processes including executing rules, workflows, and integrations; serves a primary role in systems management, testing, audit, training, and operations to support the Enrollment Management Unit’s goal of enrolling a diverse and talented class.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Admission Data Systems (Slate)

  • Develop and document system functionality, user interface and instructions, and consistent testing plans for all Slate updates, enhancements and new features.
  • Investigate and resolve system issues, errors, and data discrepancies, including matching and duplication issues with all data imports (SAT, ACT, Common Application, Coalition Application).
  • Build and maintain high level queries and reports (prospect, applicant, historical analysis, events) in support of recruiting, reviewing, admitting, and yielding each class, in addition to general maintenance of Slate functionality.
  • Resolve Slate download, workflow and process issues. Execute tasks in the Slate system, including creating, maintaining and monitoring rules and workflows.
  • Facilitate data and project requests for internal and external constituents.
  • Continued project development and implementation of new features and initiatives in Slate in collaboration with Leadership Team.
  • Develop comprehensive training plans and conduct training for a wide variety of constituents including admission staff, student workers, and other University constituencies (staff and faculty).
  • Oversee data integrity and process integration throughout Slate modules and all phases of the admission funnel.
  • Audit Slate infrastructure and organization to maintain high functionality of systems and usability, and oversee archiving of historic data and processes.
  • Audit databases for missing student data and correct to ensure student profile is accurate at the individual student record level and in aggregate.

System Testing and Data Integrations

  • Develop imports and oversee regular downloading and processing of imports including standardized test scores (SAT and ACT), prospect sources, counselor updates, organization and partnership updates, application (Common Application/Coalition), and volunteer data.
  • Export, condition and manage data, in collaboration with senior Admission staff for accuracy throughout the entire inquiry and applicant funnel.
  • Manage integration with other University systems (Banner and OnBase) to ensure consistency and accuracy.
  • Resolve data discrepancies and systems errors for exports and integrations between systems and other sources of data.
  • Develop and implement data conditioning processes using external data tools for imports as well as exports to manage data integrity in admission systems.
  • Initiate review of multi-system projects to ensure consistency of multi-faceted data integration between Slate, Banner, and ROADS.
  • Manage vendor relationships to troubleshoot and resolve data inconsistencies and maintenance of integrations.

Perform general administrative support for the Office of Admission

  • Provide direct support for Senior/Associate Director of Admission and other duties as assigned
  • Oversee multiple admission email accounts. Respond to questions and process requests for information. Update Slate and other systems as necessary for student correspondence, questions about application status portal, and response to admission decision (e.g. wait list responses, not enrolling responses, etc.)
  • Hire, train, and supervise student workers during the academic year; coordinate student worker projects and responsibilities based on needs of the office.
  • Assist with open houses and on-campus events and serve as backup member to cover reception area and phones.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Advanced knowledge of relational databases, CRM, and SIS is required.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with problem solving and data error resolution.
  • Experience working with highly confidential information.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; collaborate with teammates to coordinator core job functions.
  • Ability to work independently, efficiently and accurately; perform duties with considerable degree of autonomy.
  • Attention to detail, organized, thorough and consistent with follow through.
  • Ability to balance multiple tasks and projects and to work effectively with a team of professionals.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft products, including Outlook, Word, Access and Excel is required.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Some post-secondary education required, Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of administrative experience, including experience in relational databases.

WORK HOURS:

  • Full-time, non-exempt position
  • Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; 7.75 hrs./day; 38.75 hrs./week

SALARY STRUCTURE:
Pay Grade 5 (Hiring Range: $18.24 to 24.17 per hour)
