Program Manager for Medicaid Transformation will provide leadership, coordination, and management to the Medicaid Transformation project. The duties include but are not limited to 1) serving as the point person for the coordination of the Medicaid Transformation project between the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services/Division of Health Benefits (NC DHHS/DHB), the North Carolina Area Health Education Centers (NC AHEC) Program Office and the regional AHECs 2) managing day-to-day tasks of the project to ensure that all deliverables are produced in a timely manner and are of high quality 3) working with the director of practice support, the continuing professional development (cpd) lead and other senior leadership teams to coordinate and assign responsibilities to team members 4) providing support and resources to convene collaborative meetings aimed at ensuring successful provider transition and ongoing participation of providers in managed care 5) coordinating with the nine (9) regional AHECs to schedule trainings and practice support technical assistance visits to providers as needed. 6) managing contracts, reporting on project status and deliverables, and raising issues that need AHEC leadership decision or assistance. The program manager will be based at the NC AHEC Program Office and will report to the director of practice support while possibly managing up to two staff members.

DHB and AHEC have partnered to lead North Carolina’s Medicaid Transformation. The scope of the project includes ensuring strong provider participation, educating providers on changes to existing care management systems, and supporting the state’s opioid strategy, quality strategy, advanced medical home program, and healthy opportunities pilots. The initial scope of work addresses specific priorities and immediate needs of Medicaid participating providers, especially rural, independent, and essential primary care providers that may need assistance transitioning to Medicaid managed care. AHEC will conduct outreach activities to various providers/practices, develop training materials in collaboration with DHB, conduct trainings through webinars and forums, and provide practice-level technical assistance.

The NC AHEC Program is a network of 9 regional education centers (AHECs) representing all 100 counties in NC. The NC AHEC Program Office at UNC-Chapel Hill works with 9 AHECs and partners with all NC academic medical centers/schools, 10 UNC System universities with health professions programs, 58 community colleges, other private educational institutions, all hospital systems and health departments in the state, and over 1,400 medical practices.

Educational Requirements

Master’s degree in health care or other relevant fields or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with 4 or more years of relevant experience in substitution.

Strong project management, organizational, relationship building and communication skills

Must be a team oriented individual who can work across multiple initiatives and service lines

Must be able to manage and monitor contract deadlines and produce deliverables on time

Result oriented with the ability to initiate and drive complex projects to completion

    Location: UNC is located in the heart of Chapel Hill, the best college town in America! It's a friendly town of about 40,000 in the geographical center of North Carolina.     Carolina Computing Initiative: Beginning with the freshman class of 2000, undergraduates must purchase laptop computers.
