Description
Primary responsibilities will include teaching introductory English courses and support labs at both GSC main campus and as part of Fort Valley State University GAP Program), advising students, and service to the college, community, and discipline. This position is contingent upon funding.

The Department of Humanities offers a baccalaureate degree in English and provides service courses to support the College’s associate degrees and other baccalaureate degree programs.

Gordon State College has served the community and region continuously since its founding in 1852, and has been a unit in the University System of Georgia since 1972. After more than three decades of serving the state as a residential two-year college, in 2006 Gordon was named a state college and developed select four year programs to address critical state needs. Gordon State College serves approximately 4000 students and has more than 120 full-time faculty. In addition to its main campus the College offers instruction at several locations in neighboring counties.

The main campus of Gordon State College is in Barnesville, Georgia. Located approximately one hour south of Atlanta, students and faculty enjoy the pleasures of small town living together with access to the many attractions of a major metropolitan center.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree in English, English Education, or related field with 18 graduate semester hours in English; commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching with special attention to needs of diverse populations; prior teaching experience at the collegiate level (preferred). Preferred candidate will be flexible, innovative, highly motivated, and enthusiastic about student success.
