Assistant Director, Development

Job description


The College of Public Health seeks a versatile administrativeprofessional to join its Development and Alumni Relations team. The AssistantDirector of Development, reporting directly to the Senior Associate Director ofDevelopment, will provide high-level administrative support to the College’s Developmentand Alumni Relations office, facilitating all daily operations. The incumbent willprovide exceptional customer service to all stakeholders and will beresponsible for coordinating a wide-range of routine and dynamic tasksincluding:

  • Supporting all stewardship operations and communications
  • Assist with managing a portfolio of donors in the stewardship stage
  • Assisting with the planning and execution of all annual andcampaign-specific fundraising initiatives
  • Providing oversight of the College’s development fund accounts
  • Manage the College’s annual endowment fund reporting process
  • Cultivate volunteer boards and provide support for boardoperations and events (i.e.: Board of Visitors, Alumni Associations and AlumniAdvisory Boards)
  • Serve as a main liaison with campus partners including Temple’sOffice of Alumni Relations and academic departments to identify meaningfulengagement opportunities and facilitate recruitment of alumni for careermentoring initiatives
  • Generating essential reports and preparing donor prospect profiles
  • Assisting with prospect research and preparing stakeholderpresentations
  • Directing special projects and event logistics
  • Perform other duties as assigned
 RequiredEducation & Experience: Bachelor’sdegree and at least three years of experience working in a fast-paced development/administrativerole with experience working directly with volunteers, corporations andorganizational stakeholders. An equivalent combination of education andexperience may be considered.

  • Demonstrated organizational skills; ability to multi-task/manageseveral projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated flexibility, creativity, strategic-thinking skills;willingness to take initiative and learn
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively and appropriately interact with a diverse group of stakeholders and constituents
  • Strong written and oral communication and customer service skills
  • Understanding of fundraising principles
  • Experience using social media platforms: Facebook, Twitter,LinkedIn, Instagram, etc.
  • Proficiency in office software systems such as: MS Word, Excel,PowerPoint & Outlook
  • Proven aptitude in learning new database systems such as Reeher,Self-Service Banner & Cognos
  • Ability to work independently with results and also as an integralmember of a team
  • Exceptional attention to detail regarding all job responsibilities
  • Consistent professional presentation and communication
  • Occasional night and weekend work required
  • Experience working with higher education institutions or largecomplex non-profit organizations in the public health sector.
