Job Details

Full time faculty positions begin in August 2019 with a 30 credit hour (170 day contract per Board Policy 4.12) teaching load annually.

We currently have nursing faculty openings at our Spring Valley campus in Glenwood Springs, and also at our Breckenridge campus.

These positions will work under the guidance of the Associate Dean of Nursing, and will focus on the Medical Surgical content in the Associate Degree program of Nursing. Major areas of instruction include but are not limited to: Basic and Complex Concepts of Medical Surgical Nursing in both the classroom, simulation, and clinical setting. One of the Spring Valley openings will focus on the Mental Health and Psychiatric content in the Associate Degree program of Nursing. Major areas of instruction include, but are not limited to: Foundations of Nursing Practice, simulation lab and clinical teaching.

The academically prepared and experienced candidates could also be responsible for teaching courses at the Baccalaureate level including but not limited to: Dimensions of Professional Nursing Practice & Transition, Advanced Health Assessment, Gerontology, and Nursing Ethics and Informatics. Assignment of responsibilities will be based on experience and program need.

This position may include night, weekend, and teaching at alternate locations, along with possible interactive video teaching and other use of technology in teaching.

Teaching responsibilities expected of all faculty include: teaching course load as assigned, evaluate courses and assess student learning, meet established course, program and learning outcomes, comply with guidelines and policies, maintain office hours per established standards, develop rapport with students, assist with and participate in advising, orientation and registration activities.

CMC Faculty are expected to engage in scholarly endeavors as well as service activities such as campus and college committees, participation in relevant projects, mentor peers, participate in and assist with assessment activities, program review, student organization, recruiting and retention.

Salary range: $57,492 – $74,144 depending upon education and experience.  

Pre-requisites for Position (Qualifications Standards)

Qualified candidates must be credentialed to teach in this program, or eligible to be credentialed. Examples of ideal qualifications include:

A Master’s degree in Nursing and 2000 verifiable related occupational experience within the past 5 years and a minimum of one year demonstrated teaching/training experience (or equivalent in part-time role). An active, unencumbered Colorado RN license or the ability to obtain a Colorado Nursing license is required. Prior mental health nursing experience required for one of the openings.

A Doctoral degree or current enrollment in a Doctoral program is preferred.

Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to working in a culturally diverse environment and the ability to effectively work with students, employees, vendors and community members having diverse backgrounds.

Bilingual (English/Spanish) or conversational language abilities preferred.
